HEALTH SECTOR PROJECTS

Public health and sanitation is important sector in the goals and target of NYVAS. We have always kept public health on its top priority agenda. We have always tried to keep the public aware about contiguous Diseases time to time.

During 2010-2011 Bikaner was in the grip of terror of swine flu. It was the time when NYVAS team had decided to adopt volunteer based programs to fight such situations. We volunteered a no. of awareness campaign especially in schools and mass gathering places to prevent the spread of disease.

Agency implements a variety of programs in health sector like trainings, medical camps, awareness camps and volunteer programs. Important ones are detailed briefly.

(1) MALARIA LINK VOLUNTEER (MLV) :

Project period: 3 months

Project location: Khajuwala & Bikaner blocks of Bikaner district

Project year: 2010-11

In all 38 villages were at high risk, of them 35 from Bikaner block and 3 from lunkaransar block. NYVAS took initiatives at all these places and perform following activities.

(2) MEDICAL AND MASS AWARENESS CAMP:

Project locations: DESHNOK, BIKANER; KUCHERA & MUNDWA, NAGAUR

Number of camps: 9

Project year: 2011-12; 2012-13

Under SJSRY program nine medical camps and six mass awareness camps were organized by NYVAS at various locations. Before organizing the camps about a week long survey is done and confirmation of sites are done in accordance to priority. NYVAS field staff and Volunteer of ANGANWADI contacts BPL families and motivated to join medical camp and awareness campaigns. During camp free medical checkups are done and free medicine are distributed to the visiting patients.

In evening with help of puppet shows for awareness on current and burning topics related to health, gender or education are organized. Some time local folk artists also perform PLAYS and SKITS as mass awareness campaigns on current debatable topics like dowry, women harassment and illiteracy through puppetry shows and plays

(3) ASHA SHAHYOGINI TRAINING & CAPACITY BUILDING

In Rajasthan 54915 ASHAs were proposed and out of that 51500 have been selected (94% of total). Current density of ASHA in Rajasthan is 1/1140 means one ASHA SHAHYOGINI over 1140 People. After selection ASHA their training is to be done in different module.

Many high focus states had already reached up to module 7. Rajasthan was lagging in this field so, to boost ASHA training program we jointly with CMHO, Bikaner worked day & night to meet the district target for training under Module 6 and 7

It was a joint effort by GOV & NGO and their combined effort made it possible to train about 1000 ASHA SHAHYOGINI and health supervisions in a period of a few months.

During the training
