SPECIAL CHILD labor SCHOOL & REHABILITATION CENTER

2013-14:

Child labor is work that harms children or keeps them from attending school. Underage children work all sorts of jobs around the world, usually because they and their families are extremely poor. Large number of children works in commercial agriculture, manufacturing, mining and domestic service. Some children work in illicit activities like the drug trade and prostitution or other traumatic activities. India is sadly the home to the largest number of child laborers in the world.

The problem of child labor continues to pose a challenge before the nation. Government has been taking various pro-active measures to tackle this problem. However, considering the magnitude and extent of the problem and that it is essentially a socio-economic problem inextricably linked to poverty & illiteracy, it requires concerned efforts from all sections of the society to make a dent in the problem.

In order to fight the menace of child labor, Government of India came with the scheme of National Child Labor Project (NCLP) in 1988 to rehabilitate working children in 12 child labor endemic districts of the country. Today 7311 special schools are running under this scheme. Navyug Vikas & Anusandhan Sansthan also wanted to become a part of the scheme, so we took the responsibility to run the scheme.

In 2013-14 we entered into the 3rd year of running the child labor schools in Bikaner and Jhunjhunu District respectively. The students of child labor schools have progressed to the next class after a very long year of studies and exams. The common feature of our child labor schools are:
