ASHA sahiyogini is the first port of call for any health related demands of deprived sections of the population, especially women, children, old aged, sick and disabled people. She is the link between the community and the health care provider. Department of Medical & Health at State and at Center is looking at ASHA as a change agent who will bring the reforms in improving the health status of oppressed community of India.
Capacity building of ASHA sahiyogini is critical in enhancing her effectiveness. It has been envisaged that training will help to equip her with necessary knowledge and skills. Training of ASHA sahiyogini is continuous process. Involvement of NGOs is an important task in the implementation of ASHA sahiyogini programme. As compared to other states Rajasthan lags behind in terms of training in module 6 & 7. So, Navyug Vikas & Anusandhan Sansthan took the imitative after consultation with NRHM Bikaner to carry out training for module 6 & 7 for the ASHA sahiyogini's.
This was the second time in a row that we got opportunity to carry out training for module 6 & 7. Navyug Vikas & Anusandhan Sansthan with the collaboration of Medical Health Department trained 445 ASHA sahiyogini's and health supervisor's in 45-50 days. It was huge arranging trainings for such a big lot of participants from 6 blocks of Bikaner District. The accommodation and food were also the part of the training. The following is the list of blocks of the participants:
By the end of financial year 2012-13 seven training in a raw of ASHA SHAHYOGINI gave a tremendous scope to boost our public health division. It was a joint effort by GOV & NGO and their combined effort made it possible to train about 250 Asha shahyogini and health supervisions in a period of about 45-50 days.
In Rajasthan 54915 ASHAs were proposed and out of that 51500 have been selected (94% of total). Current density of Asha in Rajasthan is 1/1140 means one Asha shahyogini over 1140 People.
After selection ASHA their training is to be done in different module.
Many high focus states had already reached up to module 7. Rajasthan was lagging in this field so, to boost ASHA training program we jointly with CMHO, Bikaner worked day & night to meet the district target for training under Module 6 and 7.
