FARMERS TRAINING

Farmers' training of different modes is provided ranging from local agricultural institute to national level institutes. These trainings are organized at KRISHI VIGYAN KENDRAS, Agriculture Research Stations and Agricultural Universities, major agriculture institutes of ICAR like NDRI, CAZRI etc and vocational agricultural schools and field demonstrations of private institutes or companies like JAIN IRRIGATION LTD. These training classes are conducted on specific topics like the use of organic fertilizers, crop water management, disease and pest control and post harvest technologies or vast topics like packages of practice.

During the project period, several training programs were organized on varied topics and areas and most interested farmers got the priority for such training programs. Table 18 indicates that about 65.55 % of the farmers adopted various technologies and practices propagated through these training programs. The adoption ratio was observed to be the highest among marginal farmers (70.83%) followed by large and small farmers (65.92% & 59.88% respectively). The new information that farmers gain through these training sessions makes their daily farming activities much easier. It also leads to an increase in productivity and bigger profits in the long run.
